New Ofsted Framework 2025

This online CPD course introduces early years practitioners to the brand-new 2025 inspection framework from Ofsted — coming into effect 10 November 2025. You will learn about:

• The new “report-card” style inspection model replacing overall judgements with detailed graded evaluations. 

• The 5-point grading scale used across early years settings: Urgent Improvement, Needs Attention, Expected Standard, Strong Standard, and Exceptional. 

• The key evaluation areas inspectors will assess: inclusion, curriculum and teaching, children’s welfare/well-being, personal development, behaviour (where relevant), leadership and governance — and how these apply to nurseries and pre–schools. 

• The expected frequency of inspections under the new regime and what triggers a full inspection. 

• What practitioners and managers need to do to be inspection-ready: aligning with the refreshed evaluation criteria, preparing robust inclusion and safeguarding practices, documenting curriculum and child-centred approaches, and maintaining high standards of welfare, development, and leadership.
